There is much to like about Matthew Allen's i.FTP: the fact that it is lightweight, the fact that it has a simple and user friendly interface, the fact that it is open source, the fact that it can work from a portable storage device like a USB stick, the fact that it can prove to be a very useful FTP/SFTP client. The bottom line is this: if you want a free, light, and quite useful FTP client, you’re very well advised to get i.FTP.

Download an installer, run it, follow the simple instructions presented onscreen by a setup wizard. These are the standard steps you must go through to install most software applications on a Windows PC. They’re also the steps you must go through to install i.FTP on your Windows-powered PC.

i.FTP has a dual-pane interface that provides support for multiple languages: the panel on the left hand side displays local files; the panel on the right hand side displays files stored on the FTP server. Above these two panels there’s a section that presents information about your connection and a toolbar with buttons for various functions: create folder, delete, transfer, and more. Overall, the interface has a simple layout and makes it easy to access all of i.FTP’s functionality.

The following functionality: easily connect to a FTP or SFTP server; ASCII and Binary modes are supported; schedule downloads; HTTP download; create folders; delete files; transfer files; rename files; execute files; view text; show hidden files; search for files.

i.FTP is free and open source software. Matthew Allen explained that he wrote i.Ftp to be the first freeware graphical client for BeOS. But someone else released a client a few days before him.

i.FTP is free and open source, it is lightweight and easy to use, it is a useful and handy FTP client.

Pros

Little time and effort will go into installing i.FTP on your Windows PC. You can easily connect to a FTP server. The dual-pane interface provides support for multiple languages; said interface is very easy to use. i.FTP is free and open source.

Cons

None that I could think of.
